MOLLY STRAUCHLER | 2nd YEAR | SOCIOLOGY & MUSIC
Music is my first love. I like to write, play, and listen to all sorts of music. I have my headphones in constantly and if I'm not listening to Bright Eyes, Soccer Mommy, or Banks, I'm probably tuning into my favorite podcasts. In addition to UPC, I spend my time at UVA losing terribly at dodgeball, playing my guitar, DJing on the student radio, and hanging with my friends on the Corner. If you see me around come say "hi!"
PKG CONCERTS COMMITTEE
I'd like to think of PKG as an everything-music based committee. Not only do we put on the best concerts in UVA and the Charlottesville community (highlights from the past include: J. Cole, Travis Scott, Anderson .Paak), but we strive to present events year-round for the student body to enjoy. Ranging from open mic nights, guitar hero competitions, to album listening parties, PKG embodies a diverse array of genres and sounds while appealing to a broad audience through our events and as PKG Director, I have the opportunity to plan and coordinate these events. If you come out to an event (and you should, because they're actually really dope) come say hi to me and the committee! We love talking about all things music!
WHAT DOES UPC MEAN TO YOU?
To me, UPC has meant the opportunity to work with like-minded, kind, and motivated people to do what I love. It has given me the opportunity to learn about and work in the music industry while simultaneously introducing me to some of my best friends at UVA.
IF YOU COULD LISTEN TO ONE SONG FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
As of right now, I'd say "Buttercup" by Hippo Campus. That song always brightens my day and makes me feel like dancing.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE UPC MEMORY?
My favorite UPC memory was last fall when PKG decided to go see Hippo Campus together downtown at the Jefferson for a committee bonding event. It was a great show and it was so nice to have a group to go with who all cared about music and the band as much as I did.
