JILL VILLANY | 4th YEAR | COMMERCE: FINANCE & IT
Hi! My name is Jill Villany, and I'm so excited to be the Cinema Director this year! Being from New Jersey, UPC really helped me feel more at home after arriving on Grounds first year and I'm so happy to be the director of a committee that has been a constant pick-me up throughout my time at UVA. In my free time, I like to play piano/guitar/sing, binge watch Netflix, hang out with friends and eat way too much chocolate/Halo Top. Please feel free to reach out to me about anything, I'd love to hear from you!
Our welcoming group has fun choosing movies to show at screenings that take place every Friday and Saturday, and are open to the Charlottesville community! We love creating special events centered around some of our favorite movie picks to provide the perfect de-stress after a long week. Some of these events include advanced pre-screenings, co-sponsorships with other organizations on Grounds, and food that tastes even better because it's free. Past advanced pre-screenings have included Get Out and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. One of my favorite traditions is our Happy Hoo-lidays celebration in December, which last year featured hot chocolate, Sweethaus cupcakes, a gingerbread house making contest, and a screening of Elf.
WHAT DOES UPC MEAN TO YOU?
To me, UPC has been an amazing community where I have had fun taking on new responsibilities/challenges in event planning while meeting other incredible UVA students.
IF YOU COULD LISTEN TO ONE SONG FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
"Put Your Records On" by Corrine Bailey Rae. The first time I heard this song was on a long car ride, and I listened to this song for nearly two hours straight.
FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIE?
High School Musical! It's such an innocent, feel good movie that always brings me back to when I was a little kid waiting for it to premier and watching it with my family. You won't find perfectly coordinated dances to cheesy songs that are as fun to belt out anywhere else!
