DEBBIE YOO | 4th YEAR | COMPUTER SCIENCE
Hi there! My name is Debbie and I'm a fourth year from Richmond, Virginia. I was on Late Night my first and second year, director of that committee my third year, and I'm ecstatic and honored to be Chair this year. Outside of UPC, I love to play frisbee (I'm on the Women's Club Ultimate team here!), run, cook (or fail miserably at), read, and binge watch Netflix shows. UPC has been a huge part of my life at UVA since first year, so I'm excited to continue being a part of it!
TELL ME ABOUT CHAIR.
The Chair ensures that the organization works well at all levels and helps support Exec and GC. The Chair leads meetings, evaluates the constitution, checks in with directors and with Exec, and guides the organization towards fulfilling their mission to program for the University. The Chair also acts as a liaison between UPC and University administration, serving as the "face" for the organization to many.
WHAT DOES UPC MEAN TO YOU?
UPC has been the organization where I've learned the most outside the classroom. I've learned great leadership skills, met some awesome friends, and planned events that I was passionate about. This organization gives you all those resources, and I'd say I'm very lucky to have stumbled upon it first year!
IF YOU COULD LISTEN TO ONE SONG FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
"How To Save a Life" by The Fray
FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIE?
Hands down, Lion King. It was the only VHS tape I owned growing up, so whenever my family and I took long road trips, I played that movie on repeat in the car (my dad used to own one of those mini vans that came with a TV and a VHS player).
